The QuietSnipe was a model of sniper rifle that fired mag-pellet projectiles and featured a telescoping barrel. Jedi Knight Jaina Solo utilized one during the Second Battle of Roche at the time of the Second Galactic Civil War, when she attempted to assassinate her brother, the Sith Lord Darth Caedus, in the Strategic Planning Forum on the asteroid Nickel One during the fighting.

Description

The QuietSnipe was a variant of magrifle that used magnetic acceleration to fire mag-pellet projectiles. Classified as a sniper rifle, the QuietSnipe featured a telescoping barrel, a front sight, and a trigger. The weapon could hold one magazine of a hundred mag-pellets at a time, which had to be attached to a feeder on the QuietSnipe. It was possible to expend the entirety of a magazine of mag-pellets in three seconds using a QuietSnipe if one fired constantly, and the sniper rifle could fire mag-pellets fast enough that they tore through seats and could spin a man around if he was hit by one.[1]

History

The QuietSnipe was in circulation by the year 41 ABY,[2] amid the events of the Second Galactic Civil War, a chaotic conflict that saw the Sith Lord Darth Caedus lead elements of the Galactic Alliance and other forces loyal to him against the Jedi Coalition.[1] In 41 ABY,[2] the Jedi assaulted the Roche system with the aid of the Mandalorians, where Caedus resided on the asteroid Nickel One, guarded by Galactic Alliance and Imperial Remnant forces. During the fighting, Caedus' sister, Jedi Knight Jaina Solo, infiltrated the enemy's defenses on Nickel One armed with a QuietSnipe in an attempt to assassinate her sibling. While Darth Caedus fought a Mandalorian team that had come to kill the Imperial Remnant's Moffs in the Strategic Planning Forum, Solo managed to get the Sith in her QuietSnipe's sights from a projection booth bordering the forum. Although Solo managed to send a mag-pellet through Caedus's shoulder, the Sith evaded the other projectiles, and Solo was forced to resort to using her lightsaber as she pressed an attack that ultimately saw Caedus lose an arm before he retreated.[1]

Behind the scenes

The QuietSnipe appeared in Troy Denning's Invincible, the final novel of the Legacy of the Force series, released in 2008. The variant of sniper rifle received an entry later that year in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia.
