The Merr-Sonn R-88 Suppressor riot rifle was a nonlethal pacification device designed primarily for crowd control on populous worlds such as Coruscant and Metellos. Though dating from the Old Republic and lasting into the New, its heyday came during the Imperial era, when stormtroopers on Coruscant employed the weapons on everything from peaceful demonstrators on the Glitannai Esplanade to rioting aliens in the Invisible Sector.
The Suppressor rifle carries two clips of Brix-C stun fluid, each capable of firing up to five shots. The weapon can fire the Brix-C in a compressed stream with a range of 100 meters. It disperses into an aerosol rain with a radius of approximately 4 meters, within which the Brix-C serves as a powerful inhalational incapacitant. The dispersed fluid droplets can cause secondary effects via skin contact at a range of up to 8 meters from the point of impact.
