R3-D-series astromech droid

The R3-D-series astromech droids was developed near the end of the Galactic Republic. The astromech droids were used to assist target acquisition and management on starfighters. The use of the droids allowed the pilot to concentrate on flying the craft. The original design of the Delta-7 starfighter called for an R3-D astromech.
