R5-K6 was the astromech droid for Red Leader, Garven Dreis, during the assault on the first Death Star at the Battle of Yavin. He previously served at the Dantooine Rebel base. He was destroyed along with Dreis's X-wing.

Behind the scenesEdit

Like many other unidentified astromech droids, R5-K6 was often given a fanon designation. However, one such name was made canon with a preview of a set of new Hasbro figures.

In a sequence in A New Hope on the Death Star a droid very similar to K6 is shown from the backside. Since the colors aren't great it's hard to distinguish the exact colors. Since the action figure depicts R5-K6 with a red body and the Death Star one depicts the correct dome but a different white body. The dome prop used for the X-Wing was most likely used on another body.

You can also spot R5-K6 as he appeared on the Death Star in A New Hope just behind Luke during the Yavin briefing. There are a few production shots of this.
