[edit] Characteristics

They were a common droid designed to serve both as copilots for organics, and as primary pilots in jobs that were too menial for living beings. They possessed cylindrical bodies with flared-out repulsorlift bases, three appendages to work the controls of starships, and slightly more humanoid heads than those of Industrial Automaton's astromech droid lines. The RX-series was made to to interact with organics, and thus had generally amicable personalities; they tended to develop personalities more quickly than other droids.[1]

[edit] History

Most spaceports had at least a few RX-series droids to help move docked starships, pilot supply skiffs, or take chartered flights through well-traveled regions. They were frequently used as pilots by space tourism companies,[1] including the Star Tours travel agency, which used them aboard their StarSpeeder 3000 passenger transports; one RX-series droid used by this company was RX-24.[3]

An RX-series pilot droid retailed for approximately 7,300 credits.[1]
