Rail Detonator

A rail detonator, was a weapon that launched powerful Rail Charges. They could be fired to explode on impact, or stick to the point of impact for a few seconds first. The Detonator was known to have been used to a limited extent during the Clone Wars. Charges were launched by a magnetic discharge in the weapon, firing them at very high speeds, although the weapon would sometimes malfunction, because the power pack overloaded, or the magnetic charger overheated. Stormtroopers wearing a yellow shoulder patch carried these weapons into the field. It was used heavily by Rebel and later New Republic agent, Kyle Katarn.
It was also a popular weapon with stormtroopers of the Imperial Remnant, which they used to great effect against both Kyle Katarn and Mara Jade.
An alternate version existed that held heat-seeking properties.
