The rancor pygmy was a type of rancor that lived on Dathomir and was smaller than normal rancors. Some bio-engineers claimed that they were an artificially engineered species that had escaped into the wild, but others disagreed with this theory. A fringe group also claimed that the rancor pygmys were the result of Nightsister magic, but this theory was generally discounted.
