Raven were a species of black birds. Ravens had high bird intelligence and were perhaps amongst the smartest birds.

The Nightsister Charal had the ability to turn into a raven, among other guises, thanks to her Force-sensitive ring. In 1.5 ABY, she failed her liege, King Terak, for the last time, so he seized her ring after she had changed to her raven form.
Terak placed Charal's ring on his necklace, and later in battle it was struck by a rock from the Ewok Wicket Warrick's sling. The ring's power overtook Terak, and turned him into stone. The ring was seemingly destroyed as well, and Charal flew off into the forest, trapped in her raven form.

- The end credits of The Battle for Endor identifies Charal's bird form as being performed by a raven.
- Presumably, the raven is an animal found on Endor, as Charal assumedly wanted to blend in with native wildlife. Less likely, it might be an animal from her homeworld Dathomir.
