"The government of Corellia is beyond corrupt! They can exterminate families like they are vermin! I'm going to take my little family and go to live in the woods. I will have my revenge! The world will know the name of Raynod Menar!!"
―Entry from Raynod Menar's journal[1]

Raynod Menar was a male Human criminal who lived on Corellia during the time of the Galactic Civil War.

Biography[]

"The leader, Raynod Menar, seemed very bitter toward government."
―A spacer, to Commander Talte[1]

By the time of the Battle of Yavin, Raynod Menar was the leader of the cave-dwellers, a Corellian anti-establishment and criminal group that opposed the Corellian government. At some point, Raynod Menar decided to move all the members of his group in the wilderness of the planet Corellia in order to live in isolation from the rest of society. They eventually took shelter in a cave in the Thaos Mountains.[1]

In 1 ABY,[2] psychotic cave-dwellers captured two groups of hikers in the Thaos Mountains.[3] Commander Talte of the Corellian Security Force hired a spacer to investigate the disappearances of Ilyamo and other hikers.[4] The spacer fought several cave-dwellers at the spot where the second group disappeared. From a communicator found on a body, the spacer managed to triangulate a signal to the Menar's cave.[3] The CorSec finally assaulted the cave to free the hostages. Raynod Menar was killed by the spacer during the attack.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Raynod Menar first appeared in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[5] Raynod Menar was added to the game with the release of the "Publish 28," on April 26, 2006.[6]

  2. 2.0 2.1 According to its opening crawl, Star Wars Galaxies was set sometime after Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. The only precise time indication in the game was given by the character Ruwan Tokai, who referenced the destruction of the Death Star at the Battle of Yavin as occurring one year earlier, placing the game sometime around 1 ABY. Later, multiple elements confirmed the placement of the game storyline in 1 ABY. First, The Essential Reader's Companion established that the tie-in novel Star Wars Galaxies: The Ruins of Dantooine took place in 1 ABY. Furthermore, the game expansion Star Wars Galaxies: Rage of the Wookiees was set during the Blockade of Kashyyyk, one year after the Battle of Yavin according to The Star Wars Holiday Special. Additionally, the main scenario of The Nightsister's Revenge from the Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game was set over a year before the Battle of Hoth (3 ABY), so around 1.5 ABY. Finally, the reference book Strongholds of Resistance placed the events of Star Wars Galaxies's Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" one year after the Battle of Yavin. Of note, Galaxies's Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" introduced the Battle of Hoth in the game. However, the developers were quite clear that this was only intended to be a completely isolated "Star Wars Moment" without any effect on continuity for the rest of the game.
