The Razor-class frigate was an Imperial starship class in use during the Galactic Civil War. A few months after the Battle of Yavin, Rebel pilot Luke Skywalker encountered the Razor-class vessel Kreuge's Revenge, which was on patrol in the Outer Rim in conjunction with TIE fighters. Skywalker barely escaped in his starfighter Y 4.[1]

Razor-class frigates had a hexagonal command tower similar to those of Imperial-class Star Destroyers, three double-barreled cannons on the bow, and hangar entries on the ventral side.[2]

Behind the scenesEdit

The Razor-class frigate first appeared in Jason Fry's 2015 canon young readers book The Weapon of a Jedi: A Luke Skywalker Adventure.[1] However, it was first pictured in the first part of the novel's comic adaptation written by Alec Worley and illustrated by Ruairí Coleman.[2]

Since neither the novel nor the comic script specified a design for the ship, Coleman had free reign for the design of the Razor-class, although Worley did tell him the frigate was maybe 1/5 the size of a regular Star Destroyer. Considering that the ship would only appear in a few panels, Coleman sought to make instantly recognizable as an Imperial craft, which is why he gave it a characteristic command tower. Coleman admitted that the bottom part of the ship looks more like a freighter than a frigate, and that if he had a chance to do it, again, he would with a sleeker design with far more weapons emplacements.[3]
