Red Four was the call sign of the fourth member of Red Squadron. There were a number of starfighter squadrons with this name, and several pilots went by the call sign Red Four.

History[]

Galactic Republic[]

A Republic pilot using the call sign during the Clone Wars participated in the Battle of Rendili, flying to the aid of "Blue Five," a fellow pilot surrounded by Confederate vulture droids.[1]

A Delta-7 Aethersprite-class light interceptor pilot flew as "Red Four" with the Republic's Red Squadron under Jedi Master Mavra Zane in pursuit of Separatist leader Shu Mai, and in defense of the Galactic Senate over Coruscant, where the pilot was shot down by an enemy heavy starfighter.[3]

Rebel Alliance[]

Prior to the destruction of the first Death Star, Cesi Eirriss flew a T-65 X-wing starfighter as Red Four for the Rebel Alliance's Red Squadron. After she was killed over Commenor,[4] John D. Branon became her replacement and flew during the pivotal Battle of Yavin in which he lost his life.[2]

A pilot under the command of Red Leader Luke Skywalker was assigned the call sign during a mission to Kamino.[5]

After the Battle of Hoth, Ace Azzameen flew an A-wing interceptor under the call sign Red Four while investigating an Imperial communications array to discover the identity of the Alliance's anonymous informant.[6]

Derek Klivian was assigned this call sign in the attack on the second Death Star.[7] During the battle, his X-wing was struck by enemy fire and lost power, spinning out of control.[8]

Shortly after the Alliance's victory at Endor, a pilot using the call sign Red Four flew with the Rebel Bakura task force during the planet's invasion by the Ssi-ruuvi Imperium. "Red Four" was part of an element of Red Squadron tasked with maintaining an escape cone for Rogue and Gold Squadrons.[9]

New Republic[]

Derek Klivian again flew as Red Four under Wedge Antilles' Red Flight on a mission to the planet Adumar.[10]

Jojo flew as Red Four during the Battle of Doornik-319.[11]
