The Republic Fighter Corps was an organization of starship pilots loyal to the Galactic Republic which predated the formation of the Grand Army of the Republic. Anakin Skywalker met a former member of the Republic Fighter Corps on Tatooine in 32 BBY, shortly before his discovery by Qui-Gon Jinn. The pilot, along with other spacers who passed through Mos Espa spaceport, helped to cultivate a yearning for space travel in the young slave. Among the tales related by the older man were stories of the angels of the moons of Iego, and of the 4,000-year-old enmity between the Jedi and the Sith.
