The Republic Ministry of Internal Security was a branch of the Old Republic which was established during the height of the Clone Wars by the Supreme Chancellor Palpatine.

The organization was created to protect the lives of senators as well as other government officials. The Ministry converted several holding facilities into safehouses for its purposes.

The Ministry denied the destruction of one of its facilities despite the destruction of the safehouse where Lavina Wren was located at which was the result of foul play. This caused many to question the MIS's activities and its true nature.

This branch of the Republic may have had a connection to the Republic Protectors.
