The Republic freighter was a planetary trade vessel employed by the Grand Army of the Republic.
History
During the Clone Wars the Clone Army used these transports to trade with other factions. It was a small transportation ship that was mainly used to transport supplies and ammunition to ground troops. The transports were not heavily armed and had to remain concealed to avoid being shot down by enemy forces or be spotted by enemy scouts.
