Rian Johnson (born December 17, 1973) is an American filmmaker who wrote and directed Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi, and has been announced to develop a new Star Wars film trilogy.[2]

He had a cameo in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Some of the story ideas and elements for Claudia Gray's novel Bloodline came from Johnson.[3] He also collaborated with Jason Fry on the novelization of The Last Jedi.[4]

Early in his career, Johnson worked for the Disney Channel.[5]
