Ring World was the nickname of a planet subjugated by the Galactic Empire some time after the Battle of Yavin.

It gained its nickname due to a gigantic spaceport which surrounded the entire planet like a ring. In addition to this spaceport, it also had at least two moons.

The planet fell to an attack by the Empire, which had sent a fleet led by the dreaded Executor.

The orbiting spaceport was damaged in the ensuing battle.

Behind the scenesEdit

Ring World was originally designed for inclusion in Revenge of the Sith, being depicted as a Neimoidian planet, where the ring-structure would mimick Trade Federation freighters.^[source?]

Because of its inclusion in a painting by Ryan Church in the Star Wars: Visionaries comic, the planet became part of canon, although still unnamed.
