"So is Ringo" - ―Two clone troopers, upon checking Ringo and Oz after an explosion
"Ringo" was the nickname of a clone trooper who served in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. Part of the 501st Legion, Ringo participated in the Republic invasion of the planet Umbara around 21 BBY. Immediately after landing, the clone troopers came under heavy fire from the native Umbarans. Making their way to the Umbaran capital city, Ringo and the 501st Legion had to take a road that had been mined by the Umbarans. Ringo and another trooper, Oz, stepped on a mine, and they were killed in the following explosion.

Biography
Edit

Born and raised on the planet Kamino as a clone of the Mandalorian bounty hunter Jango Fett,[1] the clone trooper nicknamed "Ringo" served in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars.[3] Around 21 BBY,[2] Ringo was part of the 501st Legion—which was under the command of Jedi General Anakin Skywalker—when the unit was dispatched to reclaim the former Republic-allied planet Umbara. After landing on the surface of Umbara, Ringo and the 501st immediately engaged the native Umbarans, who had aligned themselves with the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Although the clone troopers took heavy casualties in the engagement, Ringo and his brothers were able to secure a landing zone for the Republic troops. However, shortly afterward, Skywalker was recalled to the Republic capital Coruscant and replaced by Jedi Master Pong Krell,[3] a Besalisk known for the high casualty rates of clone troopers under his command.[4]
Krell replaced Skywalker's original plan to capture the Umbaran capital by ordering Ringo and the 501st to stage a full frontal assault on the heavily fortified city. Finding the main road—the fastest way to the city—Ringo and his comrades were ordered to proceed toward the capital. However, unbeknownst to the clones, the road had been mined by the Umbarans. Ringo and fellow trooper Oz stepped on one such mine and were killed in the resulting explosion.[3]
Personality and traits
Edit
Ringo was unable to detect a mine on Umbara, which resulted in his death when he stepped on it. During the battle, he donned Phase II clone trooper armor with the blue markings of his unit, the 501st Legion.[3] Like his clone imprint, Ringo stood 1.83 meters tall.[1]
Behind the scenes
Edit
Ringo served as a minor character in "Darkness on Umbara," the seventh episode of the fourth season of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series.[5] "Darkness on Umbara" aired on October 28, 2011.[6] He was also mentioned in the episode's corresponding online guide on StarWars.com.[5]
