- Zae-Brii: "You don't want to get horn rot, do you?"
- Gremac: "That's not real!"
- Zae-Brii: "Oh, it absolutely is. Your horns will rot, and rockmites will burrow in and set up a nest. Isn't that right, Obi-Wan?"
- Kenobi: "Oh, yes. It's a hopeless situation for a warrior like yourself, once rockmites settle in. All you are then is living quarters, and they're terrible tenants. Always making too much noise and keeping you up at night, never cleaning up after themselves. Not to mention the noise of them chewing, chewing away on your horns."

Rockmites were insects which could supposedly burrow into and nest inside the horns of Iktotchi suffering from horn rot.[1] In 41 BBY,[2] when Jedi Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi encountered the child inhabitants of the remote planet Lenahra, he was recruited by the changeling Zae-Brii to assist in persuading the young Iktotchi Gremac to take care of his horns before going to bed. The two brought up the dangers of rockmites burrowing inside his horns if they rotted, which frightened Gremac enough that he agreed to brush his horns.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Rockmites were first canonically mentioned in the 2022 young-adult novel Padawan, written by Kiersten White.[1] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, rockmites were first mentioned in the 1993 West End Games Dark Empire Sourcebook, written by Michael Allen Horne,[3] and first appeared in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided.[4]
