Romany was the leader of one of two clans of Ryn refugees stranded on the planet of Duro during the Yuuzhan Vong War. He was a former biologist and had a bushy mane.

"Romany" is another name for the Gypsies, after whom author James Luceno modeled Romany's species, the Ryn.[1][2]
