The Rotunda Chapel was a structure built in the Temple Precinct on Coruscant. As the Jedi Temple complex expanded and grew, the large structure came to encompass the Rotunda within its walls.

HistoryEdit

Built sometime post-4,000 BBY, the Rotunda Chapel was several stories high, standing several hundred meters from the Sacred Spire's northwest slope.^[4] Following several expansions including the addition of the Room of a Thousand Fountains building and the expansion of the Temple Precinct's outer walls to cover most of the Sacred Spire, the Rotunda itself was encased within the Temple Proper.^[2]

Within the wide open area known as the Meditative Walkway, the chapel continued to serve a purpose in Temple life as younglings were sent here upon their selection by a Knight to become their Padawan.^[2]

Standing until the rise of the Galactic Empire, the Rotunda Chapel was completely abandoned following the execution of Operation: Knightfall and the disbanding of the Order during the Great Jedi Purge.^[1] The Chapel would fall into complete ruin several decades later during the Yuuzhan Vong War.^[5]

LayoutEdit

Once towering over the untouched landscape of the Temple Precinct, this cylindrical structure was swallowed by the monolithic giant that was known as the Jedi Temple. At least four stories in height, the Rotunda Chapel had several entrances along the circumfrance of its base, with large stained glass windows running to its domed roof. The roof had a circular skylight that allowed natural lighting to fill its chambers, along with other openings around the giant window.^[2]
