The Naboo Royal Crusaders were the elite members of the Royal Naboo Security Forces. In battle, they rode on large, powerful guarlara steeds and charged into the heart of enemy infantry. They employed powerful melee weapons rather than blaster rifles, and they were outfitted at Security Force Fortresses. Crusaders were typically more equipped for attacking mechanized units, turrets and troopers, but were vulnerable against aircraft and lightsaber-bearing soldiers.[2] In addition to the Crusaders, the even more well-equipped Elite Royal Crusaders could deal more powerful blows to enemy forces on the battlefield and were protected by shields.[2] Seven Crusaders were used by the Royal Naboo during the invasion of Naboo by the galactic megacorporation known as the Trade Federation to defend the Naboo settlement of Harte Secur[1] in 32 BBY.[3] The troops were unsuccessful and the Federation successfully conquered the city.[1]
Behind the scenes
Edit
Royal Crusaders and Elite Royal Crusaders appear in the 2001 video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds and its 2002 expansion pack, Clone Campaigns, during the second Trade Federation mission.[1] They are the Naboo civilization's special units which are produced at Fortresses for a cost of 100 units of food and 80 units of nova crystals. They are stronger than many of the game's other melee units.[2]
