- "You can see here the Death Star orbiting the forest moon of Endor…"
- ―Admiral Ackbar describes the holoimages Vees displays during a briefing
s'Too Vees, a Human male, was a gambler in Cloud City on the gas giant planet Bespin during the height of the Galactic Civil War. In 3 ABY, when the city was occupied by Imperial forces, Vees evacuated and followed former Baron Administrator of Cloud City Lando Calrissian to the Alliance to Restore the Republic. Vees rose to the rank of lieutenant and served the Alliance as a dock mechanic; he operated a holoprojector during the briefing before the Alliance's attack on the second Death Star. He intentionally turned down an opportunity to serve in the rear guard in order to work on Calrissian's starship, the Millennium Falcon.

Biography
Edit
In 3 ABY, s'Too Vees lived on the tibanna gas mining colony known as Cloud City,[2] on the gas giant planet Bespin, in the Anoat sector of the Outer Rim Territories.[3] There he was a gambler,[2] much as the Baron Administrator of Cloud City, Lando Calrissian, was.[4] When the forces of the Galactic Empire under the command of Lord Darth Vader chose to occupy Cloud City and take control of Bespin, Calrissian ordered the evacuation of the city.[5] Vees followed Calrissian and joined the ranks of the Alliance to Restore the Republic. There he found work as a dock mechanic, installing cannons on starfighters, and eventually attained the rank of lieutenant.[2]
When the Rebel Alliance learned of the location of the Empire's new battlestation, the second Death Star, from their Bothan intelligence operatives, the leaders of the Alliance came up with a plan to destroy the station before its construction could be completed. In a briefing on the flagship of the Alliance Fleet, Vees operated a holoprojector that depicted the plan for the upcoming battle: the deflector shield protecting the Death Star would be deactivated by a Rebel strike team on the forest moon around which the Death Star orbited, and then a force of starfighters would fly into the battlestation and destroy its main reactor. Calrissian, having been promoted to general, would lead the fighter assault.[1] In the preparations for the battle, Vees was offered an assignment in the rear guard, but turned it down in order to work on Calrissian's starship.[2] To lead the attack, Calrissian borrowed a fast freighter, the Millennium Falcon, from a friend who was going to be involved in the ground assault and would not be needing it in the battle.[1]

Personality and traits
Edit
Vees, like Calrissian, was a professional gambler.[2][4] When Calrissian left Cloud City in order to escape the Imperial occupation,[5] Vees followed him, joining the Rebel Alliance. Later, when Vees was offered a position in the rear guard, he turned it down in favor of working on Calrissian's vessel. The Bespinite was also a dock mechanic, working on the weapons systems of starfighters,[2] and could operate a holoprojector.[1]
Behind the scenes
Edit
s'Too Vees first appeared as an unnamed and uncredited extra in the 1983 film Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, in which he is shown at the controls for the holoprojector during the Rebel briefing before the Battle of Endor. His name and additional details were provided on a Decipher, Inc. Star Wars Customizable Card Game card, part of the July 2000 set Death Star II Limited. Although the CCG card for Vees mentions Calrissian and his vessel, it is not clear whether Vees's work on the Millennium Falcon entailed flying aboard it in the battle or simply performing maintenance on it in Home One's hangar bays. Since no later source mentions Vees as part of the Falcon's crew during the battle, no assumption is made as to his position.
