The SD-10 battle droid was a battle droid that was part of Balmorran Arms's SD-series. The SD-10 was humanoid shaped, like the earlier series, though it dwarfed even a Human. It was designed by Umak Leth.

CharacteristicsEdit

This massive droid was stronger and more intelligent that its predecessors, particularly the SD-9 battle droids. The SD-10 was equipped with laser-reflective armor, advanced servomotors, powerful targeting sensors, self-healing metal, and a point-of-impact shield generator. The SD-10's forearms supported a miniature concussion missile launcher/targeter, and an extended-fire repeating blaster. This battle droid still retained its plasma-burst cannon.

HistoryEdit

The SD-10 was produced in 10 ABY during the reborn Emperor Palpatine's insurrection in the vast droid foundries of Balmorra. Resenting the Imperial presence, Governor Beltane had his engineers, technicians, and designers fit the SD-10s with fast-reaction servos, point-of-impact shield generators, and experimental self-healing metals. Their databanks also contained the tactics programmed into the SD-9s though with newer foolproof methods for defeating those employed by the SD-9s. The SD-10 also featured an advanced combat sensor package.

Following the clone Emperor's second death at the Battle of Pinnacle Base, the Balmorrans rebelled. The Emperor then sent his Executor, Sedriss QL, to crush the revolt, thus resulting in the Second Battle of Balmorra. During the battle, the SD-10s were deployed straight from the assembly-lines and bested the SD-9s used by the Imperials. However, they were no match for the new Imperial Shadow Droids. The Balmorrans then deployed their new X-1 Vipers, and this resulted in a truce between the two warring factions.

Behind the scenesEdit

It seems possible that the SD-10 battle droid influenced the later YVH-series battle droid, given the units' host of shared characteristics (including self-healing alloys and advanced tactical programming).
