SD-7 was an Imperial communications droid, serving as assistant to IMP-22. SD-7's main function was to relay messages from Imperial agents around the galaxy to a high ranking Imperial commander that IMP-22 and SD-7 served. SD-7 communicated in droidspeak.

SD-7 was known to be combat-capable. When in combat mode, the usually-blue diodes on its body turned red. Its legs extended to roughly double their usual length, lifting its body off the ground, and a small blaster extended from beneath the main body. The blaster appeared to have a full 360 degree firing arc.

It is unknown if SD-7 was originally designed to see any large-scale combat. Typically, its armaments were used as a method to deal with traitorous or incompetant commanders.
