[edit] Biography

SSA-719 was an OOM security battle droid, built by Baktoid Combat Automata for the Trade Federation Droid Army.[2] He had already entered sevice by 32 BBY, when the Federation established a blockade around the planet Naboo as an act of protest against the taxation of trade routes introduced by the Galactic Senate. After a failed negotiation attempt with two Galactic Republic ambassadors—Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi—the Federation forces landed on the planet and captured the capital city of Theed.[1] SSA-719 was then assigned to quell uprisings before they had a chance to gather momentum.[4]

SSA-719 was standing guard at the entrance to the Theed Royal Palace throne room when Queen Padmé Amidala, disguised as a simple handmaiden, was captured during the Naboo's attempt to retake Theed from Trade Federation control. Amidala and her party were escorted into the throne room where they were confronted by the Federation Viceroy Nute Gunray. It was then that Amidala's handmaiden Sabé, disguised as the Queen, approached and stated that the Viceroy's occupation had ended. Believing her to be the true Queen, Gunray ordered his troops to pursue Sabé. SSA-719 was destroyed by a well-aimed, decapitating blaster shot as Sabé and her group drew Gunray's troops away from the throne room, allowing Amidala to capture the Viceroy and end the Trade Federation's occupation of Naboo.[1]

[edit] Features and functions

SSA-306 was equipped with a standard E-5 blaster rifle.[1] He believed that the best form of defense was offense.[4]
