The Sacred Spire was the natural peak around which the Jedi Temple was built on Coruscant.

Containing a Force-nexus, the original temple was built inside the mountain as simple meditation chambers and small residences. When the Four Masters arrived on Coruscant, they initiated the construction of the Temple ziggurat, which would surround the mountain and eventually cover it completely. The Temple Spire would be built around the peak, and contained the founding scripts of the Order.
During the Dark Times, while the Temple lay dormant after Operation: Knightfall was issued, Darth Vader sent his secret apprentice Starkiller to the Jedi Temple on a training mission. While in route to the High Council Tower, Starkiller was forced to enter the Sacred Spire due to damage elsewhere in the Temple.
During the Temple's abandonment, the spire lay empty for several years. During the invasion of the Yuuzhan Vong, the spire collapsed, revealing the Sacred Spire underneath. It is here that the deranged Lord Nyax would do battle with Jedi Grand Master Luke Skywalker, his wife, and Tahiri Veila.
