Samuro was a Jedi Knight who imprisoned the energy vampire Rajine hundreds of years before the Battle of Yavin. He achieved this by using the "words of banishment" but had to sacrifice his life to do so.
When Jedi Master Mace Windu arrived searching for missing clone troopers, he encountered Countess Rajine, who proceeded to capture the Jedi. The droid Z-18, who used to serve Samuro, helped Mace escape and gave him the Jedi's holocron. With this device Mace, along with the essence of Samuro, were able to free the life forces of Rajine's victims who turned against the Countess.
