Scalefish were a variety of small fish native to the oceans, lakes, and swamps of Naboo, particularly around the Gungan city of Otoh Gunga.
It was believed the scalefish were attracted to the glowing lights of Otoh Gunga, though the scalefish learned through experience not to pass through the hydrostatic bubble structures into the air-filled interior.[1]
Most scalefish were deemed harmless, although the faa was carnivorous,[2] and the mee wielded a poisonous spine.[3]

Behind the scenes
The naming of the scalefish on Naboo is a play on the musical scale (Do, Re, Mi, Fa, So, La, Ti, Do). Missing in the sequence is the scalefish representing "So", but it is instead represented by the sharped 'so,' which is 'Si.'
