The Scimitar Assault Wing, also known as the White Death, was an Imperial fighter wing whose specialty was surface assault.

In contrast to a standard TIE wing, this unit was specially configured for ground attack. It consisted of three squadrons of TIE/sa bombers, with two squadrons of fighters for escort, probably TIE/ln starfighters, and one Special Unit squadron. This consisted of two flights of MT/191 dropships for landing ground troops in conjunction with bombing attacks, and one reconnaissance flight, divided equally bewteen TIE/rc scouts and TIE fighter escorts.

During the Galactic Civil War, the wing was led by Captain Tomax Bren aboard the Star Destroyer Retribution, part of the Qeimet fleet, operating in space with a strong Rebel presence near the Hook Nebula. As the wing did not have an integral training squadron, it took new pilots from the one aboard the fleet flagship Victorious. This did not give new recruits any bomber experience, however, and they learned ground-assault tactics flying active missions with the Scimitar Wing itself.

The wing fought at the Siege of Nulan VI, the Battle of the Aturi Cluster, and the Battle of U'Dray. The "White Death" nickname was earned due to the pale paint-finish of the bombers, which made them hard to see in the skies of most planets.

The unit was known for its loyalty to the concepts of the New Order, and remained intact under Captain Bren's command after the Battle of Endor. During the Thrawn campaign, they fought in Scimitar Assault Bombers, but following the death of Thrawn, Bren led his unit into hiding.
