Scimitar Squadron was a New Republic fighter group consisting of RZ-1 A-wings. During the time of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion the unit was led by Colonel Ijix Harona. After the victory at Obroa-skai, the Scimitars were stationed at the Republic's forward base on Kashyyyk. While engaged in training exercises with Major Jaina Solo's Twin Suns Squadron, Harona and Solo received a distress call from the Far Thunder, a cruiser that had been left behind at Obroa-skai. The two squadrons hypered to the so-called Library World to fend off Yuuzhan Vong forces long enough to allow Far Thunder's crew to be evacuated.

Later, Scimitar Squadron would participate in Operation Trinity at Bilbringi and the rescue of Galactic Alliance prisoners at Selvaris.
