The Second Duel on the Anakin Solo was a lightsaber duel between the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Caedus and the "Sword of the Jedi", Jaina Solo. The duel was a pivotal battle of the Second Galactic Civil War that resulted in the death of Darth Caedus, which brought an end to the conflict.
After Darth Caedus attacked Kashyyyk, his sister, Jaina Solo, realized she needed to live up to her role as the Sword of the Jedi by confronting her brother. Jagged Fel shared with her his belief that Caedus would not fight fairly as another Jedi would. He suggested learning unconventional fighting techniques to effectively counter Caedus's unique Force powers. Jaina was convinced and departed to learn from Mandalore Boba Fett, an infamous Jedi hunter. After training with the Mandalorian for over a month, Jaina left during the First Battle of Roche to go after her brother. They first fought during the Second Battle of Roche. But after suffering severe wounds, both were forced to retreat. During the Battle of Shedu Maad Jaina boarded Caedus's Star Destroyer the Anakin Solo, and eventually found him in the Biodisposal Pit. Caedus was leaving to prevent the nanovirus sent to kill all Hapan royalty from reaching the Dragon Queen. He was on his way out as Jaina appeared and stabbed him in the stomach.
- "Jaina, listen to me. You need to get out of my way. I'm trying to save Tenel Ka and Allana."
"Sure you are, just like you saved Isolder."
- ―Darth Caedus and Jaina Solo
Caedus responded by Force pushing her away. Jaina crashed into the far side of the corridor and was amazed that Caedus was still standing despite the hole under his ribs. Caedus then unleashed Force lightning on Jaina, who blocked it with her lightsaber and Force pushed him through a nearby door. Jaina sprang after him and was attacked by Caedus, now wielding a crimson lightsaber. After exchanging many blows, there was a pause in the battle. Caedus used the opportunity to explain to Jaina that time was running out for Tenel Ka and their daughter Allana. Jaina ignored his statements and lunged at him in an attempt to strike him down before he could reactivate his lightsaber. Caedus was prepared for this reaction and Force pushed her towards the incinerator. Jaina pulled herself out of the way but still slammed into the scorching hot wall a half meter away.
As Jaina screamed in pain, she opened herself to the Force and drew on the love of the Jacen Solo she had grown up with and loved to regain some strength. Caedus was again trying to leave when Jaina used the Force to close the door on his face. Caedus re-entered the fight by shooting Force lightning at Jaina and slashing his blade at Jaina’s shoulder. Jaina dodged the strike and positioned her arm to block a kick she sensed coming. Caedus then snapped her arm over his leg. Both of them quickly whipped their blades around to strike and they both made contact. Caedus's blade slashed across Jaina's abdomen, while Jaina's met with her brother's Achilles' tendon and sent him staggering. Jaina moved to finish off the Sith Lord, who couldn't even stand up and engage her. Even though she left herself open to counterstrike, Caedus used his final moments to warn Tenel Ka through the Force that there was danger, to take Allana away. He could not finish his message as Jaina's blade cut through his heart.
Jaina then sat on the floor holding her brother’s head in her lap as Jagged Fel and her parents came to her aid. Han and Leia tried to avoid looking at their son's body but quickly broke into tears. Jaina would later say that she thought Caedus reaching out to Tenel Ka meant that he became Jacen before his death, and that she felt Jacen die through her twin bond, not Caedus. Leia didn't agree and stated that she would have died if she didn't kill him first. This could have been wishful thinking on Jaina's part, similar to when she thought there was good in him earlier at the Second Battle of Roche, when he redirected fire from her to an illusion of Luke Skywalker.
Soon after the Dark Lord of the Sith was killed, Ben Skywalker, Jacen's cousin and former apprentice redeemed Caedus's Sith apprentice Tahiri Veila in a duel and ended up taking her into Jedi custody. Lumiya's Sith, which was in turn was the remnant of Darth Bane's Sith Order, was finished once and for all.
