The Second Mission to Byss was carried out by Jedi Master Kyle Katarn and Jedi Knight Jaden Korr for the New Jedi Order.
Background
Due to the fact that Rosh Penin never completed his investigation of Byss prior to his seduction to the dark side, Jaden was sent to determine if Tavion had already used the Scepter of Ragnos to absorb the planet's Force energy. Kyle also decided to come, so that Jaden himself would not be at risk being captured.
The mission
After arriving at Byss, Jaden and Kyle didn't detect any dark side presence, confirming that Tavion had already claimed the energy she needed. Before they could leave the system however, the Raven's Claw was caught in the tractor beam of an Imperial Dreadnaught. Kyle and Jaden split up once their ship was brought onboard. Kyle went to activate the ship's self destruct, and Jaden headed for the tractor beam generator.
Eventually, Jaden was able to disable the tractor beam, battling stormtroopers and hazard troopers along the way. However, the Imperials had already sent out a distress signal and before long, TIE/LN starfighters and TIE/sa bombers were attacking the Dreadnaught. Jaden took control of the Dreadnaught's turbolaser cannons and destroyed the TIEs. After he rejoined Kyle in the hangar and escaped in the Raven's Claw, the Dreadnaught was destroyed, the explosion destroying a number of surviving TIEs that had been pursuing the Raven's Claw.
Behind the scenes
When the player gets back to the hangar bay at the end of the mission, Kyle Katarn is seen using his famous Bryar pistol that appears in Dark Forces I, II, Mysteries of the Sith, and Jedi Outcast.
