Second Mission to Tatooine (Galactic Civil War)
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Mission to Tatooine involved Leia Organa Solo and her new husband, Han Solo, traveling to the planet Tatooine in order to recover a Rebel Alliance shadowcast key code that was hidden in the painting, Killik Twilight. The key code, though outdated, could still be used by Imperial Intelligence to track down Rebel agents hidden across the galaxy behind enemy lines.
The Millennium Falcon got into a space duel with Imperial forces, lead by Grand Admiral Thrawn, but managed to arrive on the surface of Tatooine and dock under cover from the enemy forces. Then, while wearing disguises at a local cantina, the Solos attended an auction in order to retrieve the Killik Twilight. During the bidding, one of the items on sale was a holographic image of the late Anakin Skywalker back in 32 BBY just after he won the Boonta Eve Podrace. Leia was distraught at the image of what had once been her father, whom she has only known as the evil Darth Vader in the Rebel Alliance's war with the Empire.
By the time the Killik Twilight was up for auction, violence broke out from the Imperial forces attending the auction who intended to retrieve the art piece. During the fight, the Killik Twilight was lost. Han and Leia embarked on a journey across Tatooine in order to retrieve the art piece, battling the Imperial forces and Tusken Raiders with the help of Jawas and a Squib trio, Emala, Sligh and Grees. During their voyage, Leia found out more about her late father's past, and ran into Anakin's old friend, Kitster Chanchani Banai, who revealed to her what her father was like before he left Tatooine under the guidance of the late Qui-Gon Jinn. Leia also retrieved a holojournal recorded by Shmi, revealing details of her life in between Anakin's departure from Tatooine to his return to his home planet.
By the end of the mission, the key code had been extracted from the painting and destroyed, although the crew of the Imperial Star Destroyer Chimaera had commandeered the painting itself.
