- "There will be bloodshed, and the skies over Korriban will burn. I'll profane your sacred ground and stop your children from ever existing. I bring war to you, my Emperor."
- ―Exal Kressh
In 3,678 BBY, the rogue Sith apprentice Exal Kressh leaked information on Imperial fleet movements to the Galactic Republic, thereby allowing Republic forces to attempt an assault on the Sith Empire's holy world, Korriban.

The battle
Edit
The battle was, in truth, a simple diversion that would allow Kressh to sneak into the Korriban Sith Academy and kill the Sith Emperor's "children," whom he planned to use as vessels for his spirit. Kressh was opposed in her mission by Sith apprentice Teneb Kel, who had been sent by the Dark Council to end her life.
Kel managed to kill his opponent, but only after she brutally attacked his companion, Maggot. Afterward Kel killed Maggot, who unfortunately had heard too much. Without the support of Exal Kressh, the Republic forces were soon overwhelmed by the Sith troops and soon every Republic soldier was either dead or taken prisoner. Thanks to this victory, and his knowledge of the real plot of the Sith Emperor, Teneb Kel was elevated to the rank Sith Lord and granted the name Darth Thanaton.
