Senali was the moon of Rutan. It had four moons of its own. The native Senalis were an offshoot of the Rutanians, and the two peoples had a long history of rivalry and conflict.

Senali was covered in oceans except for small islands the Senalis lived on.The Senalis diet mainly of fruit and fish from the island. The Senalis culture was to wear necklaces and bracelets made of seashells and stones.

Senali ultimately won but the conflict was so devastating that a peace agreement was made: the firstborn children of both worlds would be exchanged at age seven. When the exchangees turned 16, they would return home.

This pact was nearly broken and both worlds nearly went to war when the Rutanian prince, Leed, felt that Senali was his home and wanted to stay, prompting his father, King Frane to demand he return home. The Republic sent two Jedi, Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi to assess the situation.

As the Yuuzhan Vong made their way through the galaxy, they provoked the two worlds into open war, leaving both Rutan and Senali weakened and ripe for invasion.
