[edit] Biography
Kharrus’s seniority and experience made him a prime choice for overseeing dangerous ransom missions. One such escapade left him trapped in a dungeon for three weeks.[1]
During the Clone Wars, Kharrus and representative Jar Jar Binks of Naboo were sent to Florrum to apprehend the captured Count Dooku in exchange for a one million credit ransom. He found himself constantly annoyed by Jar Jar’s antics. Minutes before arriving, a holographic Kharrus informed Supreme Chancellor Palpatine that the signal would be strong enough to set up proper communications once they landed; Palpatine congratulated him on a job well done, unaware of the impending disaster.[1]
Upon entering Florrum’s atmosphere, the double-crossing pirates fired on their shuttle. As the shuttle plummeted out of control, Kharrus felt compelled to strap down the fumbling Gungan, placing his own life on the line. In a twist of fate, Kharrus suffered a fatal blow to the back when his own safety bars broke loose. Jar Jar and the surviving clones would later conduct a funeral for the senator next to the crash zone. His burial mound was adorned with his customary golden staff.[1]
[edit] Behind the scenes
- "It’s not exactly the headpiece of the Staff of Ra, I’m not saying there’s some kind of continuity there, you know, that the Egyptians somehow get it…Although it does kind of link up with the hieroglyphs of R2-D2 and C-3PO being in the tomb where the Ark is kept, so you could make some kind of crazy story there I suppose."
- ―Dave Filoni[src]
Kharrus’ staff is in fact the Staff of Ra from the Spielberg/Lucas film Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark. The Ark of the Covenant made an appearance as well, in the episode Liberty on Ryloth.
Kharrus was portrayed in "The Gungan General" by Corey Burton, the same voice actor who portrayed Count Dooku in the same episode as well as the rest of the series, the previous series, and almost all video game appearances.[2]
