In the starfleet of the Galactic Empire, senior officers formed the second highest operational commissioned officer category of military ranks, ranking above junior officers and below flag officers. Those senior officers were (from higher to lower order) Captain of the Line, Flag Captain, Commander, Lieutenant Commander and Gunnery captain. Senior officers were also a military title in the Ascendancy military.
