Sentinel beetles were beetles used by the Yuuzhan Vong. Placed around their slave cities, the beetles would begin to flap their wings and create a steady drone whenever there was an escape attempt or an intruder. That way, they would alert nearby Yuuzhan Vong warriors who would then "deal" with the problem. They were similar to turfhoppers.

It is unknown what became of the sentinel beetles after the war ended; though it can be assumed they were transplanted to Zonama Sekot where they would have joined the tampasi.
