The Separatist Council War Room was a secure command center located in the Klegger Corp Mining Facility on Mustafar during the Clone Wars. It was to here that the leaders of the Confederacy of Independent Systems retreated at the end of the conflict.

Description[]

The war room was part of a secret command facility built onto the side of the Klegger Corporation's mining complex to act as a secure bunker for the Separatist Council.[1] The room was large and contained two large holoprojector tables in the middle, shaped like the symbol of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. The walls were lined with control boards and screens, that read out status reports from the mining facility, watched incoming ships, and could remotely control the facility's shields. Three of the walls had a door. One lead down a hallway to a landing platform, another connected to a conference room, and another lead outside to a walkway overlooking the mining operations.[3] The room was able to lock its doors from a control panel, and also had automated defense systems inside.[5]

History[]

Early Separatist Movement[]

During the early Separatist Movement, the Separatist Council planned for a facility that they could retreat to in case their goals did not go to their favor. They chose Mustafar as the location of their secret bunker, as the planet's hostile environment was considered by them to be a defense. When a secret droid factory was built under the guise of a mining operation by the Techno Union with one of their subsidiaries, Klegger Corporation, the Separatists constructed their bunker inside the facility, with a war room being in the center of the bunker.[1]

The Clone Wars[]

In 19 BBY, as the Clone Wars drew to an end, General Grievous sent the Separatist Council to the bunker on Mustafar. While there, they were guarded by OOM-series security droids and the Neimoidian Gunnery Battalion. The council gathered in the war room and were contacted by Sidious, who told the council that his apprentice, Darth Vader was on his way to present them with a reward for their role in the Clone Wars. Unbeknownst to the council, Sidious had actually sent Vader to kill them. Directly after, Vader landed and was lead to the war room by mouse droids. The Separatists scrambled over to greet him, but Vader shut the doors to the room, destroyed the control panel with the Force, and then proceeded to begin slaughtering the council, the security droids, and the Neimoidian Gunnery Battalion. The room's automated defense systems activated, but did nothing to stop Vader.[5] Sidious kept the connection and listened to the entire ordeal.[6]

Afterwards, Vader contacted Sidious, who told him to send a message to the ships of the Trade Federation, stating their remaining droid units were to shut down immediately. Vader did so, and noticed on one of the war room's screens that the ship of his wife, Padmé Amidala was landing. Vader went outside to greet Amidala, but found his former master, Obi-Wan Kenobi had stowed away onboard and had come to kill Vader. The two dueled, making their way into the war room and briefly entering the nearby conference room, before going back to the war room again. At one point, the two tried to Force push each other at the same time, resulting in them both flying to opposite ends of the room. Vader quickly got up and jumped across one of the holoprojector tables, trying to strike Kenobi. The Jedi managed to block his lightsaber and sent it into the control board next to him, which accidentally disabled the shields of the facility. The two then destroyed the locking mechanism of the door to the walkway above the mining operations, and it opened behind them, which they proceeded through.[3]

Post-Clone Wars[]

The war room sat abandoned, as the rest of the mining facility stopped production because it had been damaged following the shields being lowered.[7] The deaths of the Separatists caused a dark side nexus to form in the decaying room.[source?] Eventually, due to the no protection from Mustafar's environment, the war room and the entire mining facility itself were destroyed between 18 BBY and 12 BBY.[2]
