Shay Jelavan lived on Taris in 3,964 BBY. He was the younger sibling of Shad and Shel. The trio's parents had died in 3,966 BBY in a tragic accident.

When Zayne Carrick, Shad's best friend and fellow Padawan (as well as Shel's romantic interest) was captured and returned to Taris, Shay Jelavan was there to watch his disgrace. After the Jedi left Taris and the riots began in the streets, Shel had acquired a vast amount of money from an unknown source and sent Shay off-world to stay at their grandparents place on Ord Mantell.

The source of the money later turned out to be Zayne himself.
