"Shik" was an epithet (or at least a noun) used by Waverton to refer to Podlong Foahl. It may have been a derogatory term for a Givin, or something similar to "grunt" or "peon" (since Foahl was employed by Waverton in their cover identities and possibly ranked below him in their pressure pirate band).
