GeographyEdit

A wet and muddy world, Shintel had heavy cloud cover. The planet's year lasted for ten months, and the rainy season in the north hemisphere lasted for seven of them.

HistoryEdit

When Moff Kentor Sarne began to consolidate his holdings, he realized that someone would come to challenge him. To that end, he set up several unofficial supply depots just in case. Shintel was one of the worlds selected.

Imperial Depot 4290-1 was built on Shintel's surface. The base contained an Imperial Army contingent and a ground based TIE fighter wing, and the base computers were used by Sarne to back up his navigational data.

In 8 ABY, following the liberation of Kal'Shebbol by the New Republic, Sarne's fleet put into Shintel to pick up the arsenal supplies on their way into the depths of the Kathol sector. Sarne used the opportunity to purge the last remnants of his officer corps by stranding them at the depot, and alter the navigational records as part of a plan he had enacted to delay the corvette FarStar. On Sarne's orders, all hyperdrive-equipped ships on the planet were sabotaged, and Merr-Sonn Mark III Defender ion mines were placed in orbit.

A week after Sarne left, the FarStar arrived after receiving information from Colonel Olaver Lansel on Gandle Ott. The FarStar cleared a path through the ion mines, and landed at the depot. After visiting the depot, the FarStar was infected with a computer virus by Lieutenant Palme. As the FarStar engaged its hyperdrive engines, the virus an explosion that blew them out. As part of Sarne's plan, the bounty hunter group Qulok's Fist attacked the FarStar in a hit and fade operation. The FarStar was forced to jury-rig its hyperdrive by cannibalizing parts from its X-wing complement, and headed for Tanquilla Beach.
