"Above Barancar still drift coils of steel that once formed the Despot’s shipyards, now darkened by radiation and pitted by an eternity of micrometeorites. But no image of Xim remains there."
―Bleys Harand describes the shipyards' remains[src]

A set of shipyards were constructed above the planet Barancar, and were used by the empire of the Tionese despot Xim to construct starships. Many millennia after Xim's reign, the historian Bleys Harand described the remains of the shipyards in his work of literature Travels Amid Strange Stars, which described his search for a contemporary depiction of Xim. All that remained of the shipyards by this time however, were coils of steel which had been darkened in color due to irradiation, and were covered in markings from micrometeorite strikes.[1]

Behind the scenesEdit

The shipyards were supposed to be first mentioned in The Essential Guide to Warfare, a sourcebook released in 2012 written by Jason Fry and Paul R. Urquhart, but they were ultimately cut from the final product. The section including the yards was later published as part of Star Wars: The Essential Guide to Warfare Author's Cut, a series of articles published on the blog starting in 2013.
