Shlecho newt

A Yuuzhan Vong bioengineered creature, the Shlecho newt was a small brown-orange amphibian. Coomb spores were a favorite food of such creatures and as such, could detect their presence on another being. As a sign of excitement, the newt would dart its tongue in and out and its head would become a shade of crimson. This was used on Mara Jade to detect the coomb spores within her.
It is unknown what became of the newts after the war ended; though it can be assumed they were transplanted to Zonama Sekot where they would have joined the tampasi.
