Showolter was a Human male with pale skin and brown eyes. He served with New Republic Intelligence during the Yuuzhan Vong War as a major.

As a young man, then a captain, he once worked in a Coruscant safehouse in the government district alongside Saychel, where he was assigned to protect Luke Skywalker and Lando Calrissian during the First Corellian Insurrection. Under the code name Cof Yoly, he was also in charge of the safety of the Yuuzhan Vong "traitor" Elan and her familiar Vergere. Due to Peace Brigade interference, Showolter was shot and forced to give the traitors to Han Solo and the Ryn Droma.
However, he survived, and later observed the Battle of Tynna with Belindi Kalenda.
