The jammer was set up along with two others, signal jammers Alpha and Delta, in the small settlement known as Drelliad Village which the Separatists controlled for a period during the war. Here it was used to block transmissions between Republic Army forces assaulting the village and Fort Garnik, the nearby Republic military stronghold. One of the Republic soldiers sent to capture Drelliad, Sergeant Blyes, discovered the blocking of his transmissions and searched for a way to disable the jammers.Blyes asked a member of Havoc squad and a smuggler to destroy the signal jammers for him and the pair accepted. They fought their way into the town and killed the Separatists guarding the jammers before disabling all three of them. They then returned to Blyes, who could now send intel to Fort Garnik, and were rewarded by him for their help.

Signal jammer Beta first appeared in the massively multi-player online role playing game Star Wars: The Old Republic released by BioWare in 2011. The jammer is one of three objectives players must interact with in an optional quest available for low level smugglers and troopers on the starting planet for these classes, Ord Mantell.
