In 4 ABY, Aloo was one of six advisors who accompanied Palpatine on his journey to the incomplete second Death Star in the Endor system. Within the throne room, Aloo and fellow Inner Circle member Janus Greejatus met with the Emperor, a conference briefly interrupted by the Sith LordDarth Vader and MoffTiaan Jerjerrod, commander of the Death Star. Plotting to destroy the Rebel Alliance, Palpatine leaked the information of his own presence aboard the battlestation to the Alliance as bait, drawing them into a trap. The Alliance launched a full-scale attack on the construction site, but, contrary to Palpatine's expectations of an easy Imperial victory, the battle culminated with the destruction of the battlestation and the Emperor's death.
Aloo and Greejatus meet with the Emperor and Vader aboard the second Death Star.
Days later, as the Clone Wars reached its climax, Palpatine reorganized the Republic into the first Galactic Empire, with himself as Emperor.[8] The transition had little effect on Aloo, who remained as an advisor in Palpatine's Inner Circle,[1] a group of ministers and governors who had secured Palpatine's favor. Aloo was one of a select group of consultants who were allowed to privately discuss matters with the Emperor.[9] Noted for his wisdom and patience, he became the Emperor's senior political advisor[6] and served on the Imperial Security Council.[2] At one point, Aloo and Greejatus were featured in an advertisement for BlasTech Industries' latest blaster.[10]
Aloo and his fellow dignitaries held considerable power within the command structure of the Empire. They were loyal to the Emperor, but the collective group of advisors, hundreds in all, was internally divided. The Emperor promoted this competition and managed to control the members of his inner circle through a web of fear and uncertainty. To further divide the advisors, the Emperor deliberately only met with up to a dozen at a time.[11] Aloo, as the Emperor's senior political consultant,[6] was one of the select few advisors who continually met with Palpatine, making lesser individuals feel insecure.[11] Additionally, he was one of many Inner Circle members to receive training in the ways of the dark side of the Force as Palpatine's Dark Side Adepts; the Emperor planned to replace the various Moffs and governors with the Adepts as he consolidated his control over the galaxy.[5]
Sim Aloo was known as a silent, yet wise, advisor to the Emperor.
Within the throne room, Aloo and fellow advisor Janus Greejatus met with the Emperor and were soon joined by Vader and Moff Tiaan Jerjerrod, commander of the Death Star.[3] Upon Vader's arrival, the dignitaries watched silently as the Sith Lord disembarked from the turbolift. Vader made no effort to acknowledge either Aloo or Greejatus, ignoring them as he moved to discuss matters with his master.[13] During the meeting, the Emperor instructed Vader to move the Imperial Fleet to the far side of Endor, where it would remain until the Rebels launched their attack. Though Vader voiced his concerns of the Rebel Fleet massing near the planet Sullust, the Emperor shrugged them off, confident that his trap would successfully see the end of the Rebellion. Vader and Jerjerrod departed, leaving the Emperor and his two advisors to resume their interrupted gathering. The Alliance soon launched its assault, but the Battle of Endor ended differently than the Emperor had planned. By the time it was all over, Palpatine had been killed by Vader—redeemed by his son, Luke Skywalker—and the Death Star was destroyed, killing all aboard.[3]
As the senior political consultant to Palpatine, Sim Aloo almost never spoke and displayed considerable wisdom and patience.[6] Aloo wore lavish clothing,[11] including Coruscanti headwear,[14] that was representative of his homeworld's history. Collectively, the Imperial Advisors were loyal to the Emperor but, among each other, were politically divided and insecure, always at one another's throats.[11] Aloo possessed a hold-out blaster,[1] which he concealed in the sleeve of his robe. He had gray hair and blue eyes.[2]
Like fellow Inner Circle member Janus Greejatus,[15] Aloo was Force-sensitive.[6] During the time of the Empire, Aloo was one of many advisors to receive training as a Dark Side Adept. As a result, he was capable of manipulating the Force, if only slightly.[5]
The characters who would become Aloo and Greejatus appeared in a BlasTech Industries advertisement in Star Wars: Behind the Magic.
"On Jedi, one of the most exciting things from a design point of view was the advisers who surround the Emperor. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what they might look like because I thought it was important that through them you might understand what the Emperor's world is like. Coming from a Catholic background, I sort of made a joke, and that's why they look like bishops. So they wear red, and they have elaborate headgear. This was a challenge because it wasn't in the script, and you see them only briefly in the movie."
―Nilo Rodis-Jamero, on the designs of Aloo and the other advisors in Return of the Jedi[src]
Sim Aloo first appeared, albeit fleetingly, as one of the many unnamed advisors mentioned in the 1983novelization of Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.[16] In the film, Aloo was portrayed by an unidentified extra, appearing briefly in two scenes as one of the unnamed Imperial dignitaries accompanying Emperor Palpatine to the second Death Star.[3] The outfits of the advisors were designed by Nilo Rodis-Jamero, who modeled the clothing off the red garments and the intricate headgear of Catholicbishops.[17] In 1998, Aloo and Greejatus—both still unnamed at the time—were featured in a fictional advertisement for BlasTech Industries found on the Star Wars: Behind the Magic CD-ROM.[10]
Sim Aloo plays a minor role in The Return of Tag & Bink: Special Edition, in two scenes aboard the second Death Star. Like in the movie, Aloo is part of the docking bay procession following the Emperor's arrival. The procession differs from that of the film in that Aloo and Greejatus are the only advisors present, and that there are a few additions: namely, protagonists Tag Greenley and Bink Otauna (disguised as Royal Guards) and two Cylons from the Battlestar Galactica television series. Aloo and Greejatus later appear in the Emperor's throne room, where they discuss Palpatine's disappointment of what Darth Vader had become after his "accident."[18]
