The Sith Academy of Umbara was established by the Brotherhood of Darkness near the end of the New Sith Wars. One of several academies established for Sith training during the era, the Umbaran academy was utilized for training Sith assassins and spies. Taught the ways of the dark side of the Force, and schooled in secrecy and deception, students of the Umbaran academy preferred to use the Force to kill, and became some of the deadliest assassins in the galaxy. Centuries later, the Sith Lord Darth Maul and his apprenticed brother, Savage Opress, journeyed to the academy on Umbara.

HistoryEdit

The Brotherhood of Darkness used it to train Sith assassins and spies, including Umbaran shadow spies. These initiates had a greater aptitude in the Force than their brethren in the academies on Honoghr, Gentes, and Gamorr. Here recruits learned to use the dark side for secrecy, deception, and manipulation. Those who survived the rigorous training became deadly assassins, preferring use of the dark side to kill rather than with physical force.

During the Clone Wars, various Sith reunited at the academy ruins, including Darth Maul and his brother, Savage Opress, and Varad Zagg. At this point, an unidentified Jedi Knight infiltrated it after finding pieces of a Sith holocron, required to open the door, and killed the acolytes and Varad, who created illusions of Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker and Mace Windu, who were all defeated. The brothers were also defeated.
