In the immediate aftermath of the Great Hyperspace War, the Galactic Republic initiated a holocaust targeting the remnants of the shattered Sith Empire. Although the extermination nearly drove the Sith species to extinction, several members of the race were able to escape with their religious brethren aboard an exodus fleet. The fleet eventually settled on Dromund Kaas, where the Sith built a new Empire and planned for revenge against the Republic.
