The Skirmish on Ord Mantell took place when the fierce bounty hunter IG-88 tracked down the Rebel Alliance's select fighting unit, Renegade Squadron to the backwater planet of Ord Mantell. Along with the local Imperial garrison, IG-88 ambushed Renegade Squadron in an attempt to exterminate them.

[edit] Prelude
Following the First Battle of The Graveyard the Millennium Falcon was badly damaged. The Rebel Alliance ordered the Falcon, along with Renegade Squadron under the command of General Han Solo, to Ord Mantell for repairs and some squadron r&r. Due to the fact that Renegade Squadron had caused so much damage against the Galactic Empire, the Imperials put up a bounty on Renegade Squadron. The well known bounty hunter, IG-88, took up the contract and went to Ord Mantell to hunt down Renegade Squadron. While on leave, several members of Renegade Squadron were at the local cantina getting a few drinks, when IG-88 burst threw the door, holding two blaster rifles. Suddenly there were Imperial Stormtroopers everywhere.

[edit] Getting the parts
Han had ordered Chewbacca to look through the junk piles for parts needed for the Falcon. Col then ordered Renegade Squadron to protect Chewbacca while he searched. The Imperials then launched a large wave, trying to kill Chewbacca before he could find the much needed parts. Renegade Squadron was able to hold of the Empire's assault for several minutes, while protecting Chewbacca from laser fire. Finally, Chewbacca was able to find all the parts he needed among the assorted trash and junk. The Wookiee then ran back to the hangar that held the Millennium Falcon so that Han could get started on the repairs.
[edit] Going on the offensive
After Chewbacca got to the hangar, Solo informed his troops that even if he fixed the ship, they couldn't make it off the planet if they wanted to. There was an anti-aircraft gun at the trading outpost. Solo then ordered the rebels to go destroy the gun at all costs. Renegade Squadron fought their way to the outpost, even when the Imperials dispatched AT-STs and TX-130T fighter tanks to deal with the rebels. When Renegade Squadron made it to the trading outpost, they discovered that the anti-aircraft gun was shielded, meaning they were unable to destroy the turret. Col then pinpointed the location of the shield generator and sent Renegade Squadron to find it.
Renegade Squadron had to travel all the way to the other side of the junkyard, to the junk processor. They then blew up the generator using explosives. They were then able to go back to the trading outpost and destroy the anti-aircraft gun for good. Solo then informed his squad that the Falcon needed a new power core. He had located one over the processor plant and needed someone to pick it up and bring it back to the hangar. A member of Renegade Squadron traveled back to the junk processor plant and grabbed the core. He then brought it to the hangar for Solo.
[edit] Prepping the Falcon
Solo now had to fix the Falcon and installed the new power core. He ordered Renegade Squadron to hold the hangar while he did the repairs. The Imperials launched one last wave to try to halt the rebel retreat. Renegade Squadron fought back against the ongoing Imperial assault. The rebels used a T4-B heavy tank as support during the battle. The squadron was finally able to push back the Imperial wave just as Han had finished his repairs.
IG-88 then came out of nowhere, firing blaster pistols and rifles, and using a flamethrower too kill the rebels. Serra ordered the Renegades to defeat the assassin droid and buy enough time for Han to get the launch preps done. Although Renegade Squadron lost several men to the droid they were able to badly damage the robot and push him back. The general then informed them that they were ready to go. The rebels boarded the Millennium Falcon and left Ord Mantell for good.
[edit] Aftermath
Although Renegade Squadron was taken by surprise by the Imperials, they were able to defeat the enemy and leave Ord Mantell mostly intact. They would later rendezvous with Alliance command later on, where they would discover that Admiral Ackbar had been captured by Boba Fett on a scouting mission. This would lead to the Second Battle of Kessel. IG-88 was damaged badly during the battle, but got repaired and went back to bounty hunting shortly afterwards.
